Black Velvet Suit with Plaid

black-velvet-suit-with-plaid-1I got this black velvet suit last year–after the holidays! Basically, that means I have been anticipating wearing it all year long. I also bought the Christmas plaid shirt after the holidays to wear with this black velvet suit. Who knows why then for the recent office Christmas party I didn’t wear this ensemble. I don’t know what has been coming over me lately style wise. I won’t say I’m losing it, but maybe I kind of am! Why did I wear a cranberry velvet top instead? I had a great time at the party–it was the first time my employer has thrown such an event. The funny thing is though I’m still regretting what I wore. Has this ever happened to you? At any rate, I am very, happy to own a black velvet suit–it is so easy to dress down (as seen here with a Christmas plaid shirt) or up (just add a sequin top). I highly recommend this investment. If you can’t wait for the post season sales, I’ve rounded up a few for you at the end of this post–and the shirt too. It’s a total winner and on constant repeat these days. In fact, that could be why I didn’t wear it to the party; I had worn it all Friday day long with a pair of jeans.

Here are a few options for you to choose from including a skirt version. If you can hold out, wait till after the holidays when these items will go on mega sale, but if you must have it for your office Christmas party, here you go! And, may I recommend this shirt one more time? I love it!!

LRVD (The Little Red Velvet Dress)

little-red-velvet-dress-7Last week I insisted on updating the LBD (little black dress) to an LBVD (little black velvet dress). This week I am going to say something even more bold: it’s time to update the LBD to an LRVD (little red velvet dress)! Shall we all become the dancing red lady emoji this holiday season and enjoy some shimmer-shimmer with a little red velvet dress? I know I will be! When I saw this dress online at Zara, I knew I had to have it, and then when I saw that it came in XL (and even XXL), I ordered it. If I were to lift my arms too high, this little red velvet dress would be way too short, but luckily I bought myself a bit of extra length with an XL. In my opinion, a jewel tone dress is perfectly paired with, well, more jewel tones. I’ll always be the first one to say, “more is more!” So, I styled the dress with my blue velvet booties and pulled out my multicolored, satin scrap tote made from the Kala Raksha ladies India.

little-red-velvet-dress-5I love this bag and barely use it because I don’t want it to get too worn, lucikly a trip to India is in my near future! (If I were to bring some of these lovely Kala Raksha bags back from my trip to India this December, do you think you would want to buy one? Let me know in the comments, through a tweet @krembdelakremb, an email or message through Facebook. You know how to find me!)

I just want to go to a PARTY!

So, it’s Christmas 2014, and there has been no shortage of sequins on the blog lately. (Note my sequin pants here and my sequin top here.) I guess, basically, when it comes right down to it, I JUST WANT TO GO TO A PARTY!

Holiday Style: Sequin Pants Dressed Down

Sequin1A while back I declared a fashion fixation for sequin track pants. Well, I never did find a pair–yet! But recently I did find some sequin legging pants. I gasped and then jumped when I saw this silver pair in the window of an HM in Shanghai. I went skipping in and nabbed a pair straight away. I really didn’t even have to try them on; I was sold. Now, I know that sequin pants–legging pants at that, may seem like a far cry for many, but I think there are various ways of dressing this shimmery goodness down. I’ve deomonstrated how in two differentways: first with a white tee and a black blazer/cape OR second with a white fisherman sweater and black scarf. With something as fancy as these pants, you don’t really need much flare on top. Alternatively, a denim shirt could work or even a black sweatshirt. Basically, just let the pants do all the work!
