What I’ve Been Up To This November

According to the above image from last November, it would appear I also was having a leopard moment exactly one year ago. Here I am wearing leopard boldly, casually with jeans, and cozily in my faux fur jacket. Indeed, all year long, for many many years now, I’ve been no stranger to leopard. Please do take a moment to answer my poll at the end of this update. I’d like to know what you think of my themed Wednesday posts. Enough of that though…. let’s see what I’ve been up to this November!

TV

GLOW

Do you love the 80s? Do you want to reminisce this time period? Then you gotta watch GLOW–meaning “gorgeous ladies of wrestling.” Yes, there is some swearing, a little sex in the beginning, and the occasional viewing of drugs, but aside from all that, this show is really good! With the #metoo movement, this show couldn’t have better timing–although that all could be intentional. It is showbiz after all. Here is why I like this show: it’s about females, female relationships, and female empowerment. I’m watching GLOW with Gigi–and aside from the swearing, sex, and drugs, I think the message of strong women–both figuratively and literally, is overpowering all the other stuff. (I did not insert the video because of the sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll, but you can watch it here.)

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

It may be that working with teenagers makes me a teenager at heart. Or maybe I’ve just always liked the teenager shows. I loved 90210, then Melrose Place. During our years in India, High School Musical was on repeat. My family was addicted to American Idol while living in Beijing. We all watched Glee as well. Then Riverdale came on Netflix and we’re glued to that. And now Netflix has the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. The kids are out; it’s just me on this one. But I love Sabrina, and I adore seeing how she’s going to conquer the juxtaposition of being half witch and half human.

MOVIES

A Star is Born

Kevin and I saw A Star is Born movie, but I would say skip it and see the one I’ll review next…. Yes, Bradley Cooper was amazing in it as was Lady Gaga. But, if the only thing I find remarkable about it is that Bradley learned to drop his voice by an octave, I think there’s got to be more. Save this one for an airplane ride but watch the next one in the theater if you can.

Bohemian Rhapsody

If you see any movie in the next coming up weeks, do see Bohemian Rhapsody. It is so good! It’s excellent in fact. The spot on acting was one thing, but the feeling of being at a Queen concert was at a whole other level. I was with the entire family, so I had to limit my rocking out for the sake of their embarrassment, but I SERIOUSLY wanted to ROCK OUT! I couldn’t help but fall in love with Freddie Mercury. And I think you should have the chance to as well.

Sense8

I’ve been waiting and waiting to watch the second season of Sense8. The first first episode of season 2 is a movie rather than regular show. I’m still confused as ever but also seriously intrigued. All the connected 8 characters are each so cool; there’s not one individual’s story I like better than the other. It’s as intended with all the 8 making up one soul–or something. It’s very hard to explain. Just watch it! So good!! I’m pretty sure my December recap will include the entire series.

FESTIVALS

Clockenflap

This was the third year we attended Clockenflap. It is always such fun. Last year I immediately bought tickets after the show for this year. This year, I will do the same, but I’m going to buy two more: one for Vincent and one for Gigi. It’s just too much fun, and to see such great live music for three days straight in the center of Hong Kong is an event not to miss.

ALTN8https://www.altn8.com/

Kevin and I found a new musical event to start attending. This one is more DJ based, and wow! Was the sound system amazing. The festival was at PMQ where the cube room was blacked out. Along with any DJ music is a fantastic light/art show. We had a great time at ALTN8; I’m so glad we stumbled upon it.

SHOPPING

A Splurge and a Surprise…

This month there were two main purchases that I made. First up I bought a very expensive yet very coveted pair of tennis shoes. The other item I bought will be featured on Monday, so I don’t want to give it away, but their arrival finally came with my in-laws. I paid with PayPal, and that inadvertently sent them to the Seattle default address. Since I ordered these way back in October, I’ve been waiting and waiting for their brilliant arrival. Stay tuned….

BEAUTY

Conditioner Only

Perhaps you may have noticed that my hair is getting longer. Yahooo! It’s finally getting there. I can actually fit it into a ponytail now as well. One of the things I do when I have longer hair is I quit using shampoo and I wash my hair with conditioner only. The conditioner cleans it, but more importantly it helps my curls. Also, when I wash with only conditioner, I clean my hair less–about every three days or so. It makes my hair last and look better for so much longer. I know it’s odd, but this method of caring for my hair really, really works.

CONNECTIONS

Style Nudge

I’m not sure how I was connected to the fabulousness of Cherie from the Style Nudge, but I do know that there’s something about her that I just love. Cherie wears leopard–and snake mind you (sometimes together!) as if it’s her neutral. I just love how she carries of leopard anything so effortlessly. I don’t like to be envious but Cherie has an amazing shoe collection AND many of them are heels. Oh! To wear heels again. A girl can dream–or they can live vicariously through stylish companions like Cherie from the Style Nudge!

VISITORS

Kevin’s Folks

Kevin’s folks arrived for the last week of November–just in time for the eldest son to turn 50! It was so fun to have a family dinner at our house on November 26. It didn’t matter that it wasn’t a Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving Day; it was just really very special to have 9 Krembs in my home on Monday evening. We are very lucky that Kevin’s brother’s family lives here, and even more lucky that his parents come to visit all of us. December should be a very family fun filled month!

FEEDBACK PLEASE

Please take a moment to vote.
(And don’t worry; it’s completely anonymous.)

I need to ask all of you for some feedback. On Wednesdays since September, I’ve been styling up different outfits according to a theme. In September it was , for October it was Western, and now during November I styled up leopard. Please take a moment to submit a vote.

Should I continue with my Wearing Wednesday Series?

Yes! Love them.
Nah, to repetitive.

If yes, then on Wednesdays in December would you like to see…

plaid styled?
sequins styled?
