Planning for Summer 2019

It’s June 3rd, and we leave for our summer holiday in exactly 2 weeks. We have such a different summer ahead of us; I can hardly wait. Vincent has already started his summer when he arrived in Seattle this past Friday night. He was allowed an early departure from school, so he can play baseball for a Seattle team. Hence, our entire summer will be spent in Seattle staying with my in-laws. The last time we were based in Seattle for the whole summer was over 17 years ago! Yes, I’m very excited. I love being with Jane and Alex, and I really love all the city of Seattle has to offer.

While all of us our sad not to go to the cabin–in particular Gigi–it’s rather fun to anticipate other activities–one watching baseball games all summer long. Vincent has only seven days in June and July when he does not have a game: all the other days have one to two games on each day and maybe even more during tournaments. Since we only get about a dozen games a season here in Hong Kong, this summer will be exceptional. I can’t wait to watch him. As the ump says, “Play ball!”

Because it wouldn’t be fair to Gigi to tag along to every game, we’ve created some fun trips for her: a trip to see her friends in D.C., a trip to see Auntie Mary in California, a trip to see her cousin in Spokane, and a sailing trip in the Pacific Northwest with the same cousin. Granted, I get to also go see my sister in CA plus go sailing with my other sister in the PNW, so I also score a bit this summer! I am really looking forward to some quality sister time.

The summer will be longer than normal for me too as I need to stay and be Mommager during a baseball scouting showcase in August. This is the summer we are trying really hard to get Vincent seen by a college. It’s an exciting time, and Kevin and I believe in his ability. He’s a skilled player, and we think there’s a match out there for him somewhere.

One thing is for sure: I’m ready for summer! We’ve had consistent rain every day here in Hong Kong. While I love the rain, I would like to see the sun soon. I have to say I do miss it. Op!! Did I just jinx my Seattle summer? Probably!!
