A Librarian Look: My LBJ (Little Black Jumpsuit)

This week I had a fun party to attend with my husband, so this falls under an actual “Librarian Look.” Usually, I’ve already left for my summer vacation, but this time around, the administrative end of year dinner was this past Monday. I knew it would be dressy since it was at The China Club, and I knew there would be lots to eat–since it was at The China Club. I wasn’t wrong; there were 11 courses hence the wise choice in an expandable waist! One of the easiest ways to get dressed up and remain comfortable is with an LBJ: it’s not the little black dress but rather it’s the little black jumpsuit.

I think a little black jumpsuit is a staple for every woman’s wardrobe. Sure we all have our little black dresses, but to step things up a notch, I say invest in a little black jumpsuit. They are a tad bit more sexy with their ’70’s vibe. They are often made out of jersey material which is very, very comfortable. A jumpsuit may seem like a bathroom hassle, but it actually isn’t that big of a deal to pull down a top to go to the bathroom. Finally, they’re different and less common which makes the wearer just a bit more unique.

Hong Kong is an interesting place weather wise: it can be terribly hot this time of year, yet ever indoor space is freezing from the air conditioning. Layers are always necessary–even in the summer. I chose my floral blazer for this event. It’s lightweight and also the flowers make it seasonally appropriate. I also have been getting lots of use out of my satin bow flats. While they’re not heels, they are dressy enough for me. I wore them to the ball I attended a couple of weeks ago, and they worked for this night’s dinner as well.

Because I think a little black jumpsuit is a necessary staple. I’ve done a little window shopping, just in case my readers need one. Shop away! I found A LOT of options!!
