Another favorite of mine that I came across in a Cooking Light magazine is this easy Orzo Pea Salad with Feta. It’s a sure bet to accompany the steaks on the grill. Mix together the following ingredients: 3 cups cooked orzo rinsed in cold water and strained (about 1 1/2 cups uncooked rice-shaped pasta) 1Continue reading Orzo Pea Salad with Feta
Recipe: Artichoke Dip
I make this dip all the time! And it’s always a winner. I’m finally putting up my version of this very easy and delectable appetizer. In the past, each time I make it I go back to TasteSpotting, run my “artichoke dip” search, and return to Kitchen Sojourn written by Greg Turner. (I hope heContinue reading Recipe: Artichoke Dip
Baseball on the Brain
Vincent is all about baseball these days. (And he’s actually really quite good!) He air bats and air pitches when he isn’t batting or pitching the real way. He just finished GU’s 3 day baseball camp, but it just wasn’t long enough for him. He wants more! Until next summer…..
Recipe: Best Cookies Ever
My mother in-law always has these cookies ready for us when we come home. She makes the batch ahead of time and then freezes the dough. When company arrives, she just takes out the dough, thaws it out, and presto–fresh cookies are baked upon our arrival. I’m getting smarter out at the lake. This isContinue reading Recipe: Best Cookies Ever

Nie Nie at the Great Wall, Round 2
We took Nie Nie to the Wall right away this visit, and since we’ve found the Reflections house, we stayed overnight. On Sunday we walked up there–not realizing how tough it would be. Joanie is a true trooper! Your browser does not support the video tag

Fragrant Hills Park
We went urban trekking through Fragrant Hills Park this Saturday. The day was gloriously blue, the air was fresh, and the flowers in bloom. It was fun to hike and picnic around this pretty park.
Gigi is BLOGGING
I believe it happened because of couple of reasons. First, it might have passed down through me–she sees me blogging on the Dear Librarian and here. But, that wouldn’t be enough I don’t think. I think a major component to her new found desire came from her totally awesome 1st grade teacher, Ms. Fiona. FionaContinue reading Gigi is BLOGGING
Jeremy Gilpin
We have a great buddy here in Beijing. His name is Jeremy Gilpin. First, I knew him as my ICT go-to-man. Then, I knew him as my coach–Coach Zen I call him. Now I know him in all these capacities, but also as a friend! I really appreciate Jeremy’s kindness, endurance, and compassion for others.Continue reading Jeremy Gilpin
Recipe: Browned Butter, Banana, and Chocolate Chip Cake
This recipe is delicious! Luckily I had sent it to my friend Manatsu, so I was able to find it. Upon searching for it for Vincent’s birthday cake, I couldn’t find it again. (Here’s to life without needing a VPN!) It’s a pretty easy cake to make if you are patient with browning the butter–whichContinue reading Recipe: Browned Butter, Banana, and Chocolate Chip Cake
Great Wall Reflections
We had a wonderful weekend up at the Great Wall for May Day. Our good friends Phil, Jane, and Leo were able to join us. Debbie was across the street staying with a bunch of her friends too. We stayed in a superb house called Great Wall Reflections. It’s such an excellent find–we will definitelyContinue reading Great Wall Reflections
