Saltine Toffee

Beware!  These are delish!  And totally rich!  And very sinful!!

  • First, glaze a cookie sheet or baking pan with butter. 
  • Lay saltine crackers to cover the pan. 
  • On the stove mix 1 cup butter with 1 cup brown sugar.  Once this mixture starts boiling, cookie and stirring for 3 minutes. 
  • Pour this butter/sugar mixture over the saltine crackers and bake at 400 for five minutes.
  • Take them out of the oven and sprinkle the entire pan with chocolate chips or grated chocolate.
  • Put the pan back into the oven for about a minute.  You can turn off the oven.
  • Pull them out and place a walnut or pecan onto each saltine square.
  • Cut and cool immediately.  (This part is important.  If you keep them in the pan, they’ll stick in there and won’t come out.)

These are an easy yet very impressive Christmas cookie!
