International Drugstores

Whenever I travel the only toiletries bring are my deodorant and wipees for the plane. Other than that come empty handed in the beauty products department; I do this because I have so much fun going to international drugstores. I find it so fascinating to see what makes the locals feel and look beautiful. In the bag up above, also found at the local village mini-mart, I scored in the beauty product department:

After a day in the sea and sun, there is nothing like dripping myself in oil! I went with jasmine and an olive oil concoction I’d tried before. I love the lingering smell of an oil on my skin as well as the hydration.

My good friend Mary Kelly and I used to go through buckets of this stuff while living in Venezuela! Here’s the real story: I was sitting on a beach on Margarita Island off of the coast of Venezuela when I kept getting a waft of the most lovely smell. I finally found the source from a lady up the beach. It was her suntan lotion, and yes, I asked for the brand! If you ever find Nivea with carrot, get it. It’s divine. Don’t worry about the low SPF; just wear it over your 30 and smell like a tropical island!

Asia is known for all its tiger balms although I like to ask the locals which one is best. In this case the gal told me Geliga. And whoa! She ain’t kiddin’!! This stuff is strong. My left knee was warm for over an hour post application. I’d say it works.

I still need to return to the shop to find out what to do with these! I thought they would be roller perfumes–which they are, but they are something more… “Minyak angin” means medicated ointment, so I’m not quite sure where I put this stuff. Once I know I’ll update… In the meantime I found this video both a little informative and comical from Fresh Care.

These Natur-e advanced products were another suggestion. “Why not?” I figured. So far I really love both the smell and the texture. Now let’s hope the products really do help the wrinkles!! Hahaha!

When we lived in India we used Himalaya Herbal products ALL THE TIME! They are so good. Now, whenever I see Himalaya goods I pick some up. This time around I went with the aprico facial scrub which is ok, but the wheat germ and carrot lip balm? I have a feeling it’s going to become a staple. It’s excellent!

The last two products I picked up were collagen pills for me–the gal said this helps wrinkles, and I’m a sucker, so there’s that! (I will do my research now. Haha!) And for the kiddos I picked up an acne cleanser to fight oil. I think it’s gotten a “meh,” from them so I’ll just use it in the shower for myself.

Are you like me?
