In October Try Bicycle Shorts

Ok. Here I am in October trying something out again. Last month I tried the wrap and tuck of my oversized dress shirt. I liked it. It was easy, comfortable, and chic. This month, I’m trying something else: bicycle shorts. (Insert wide eyed emoji face!) Now, this is what I’ll say about bicycle shorts: I am loving them. It’s such a comfortable pair of shorts. But, I’ll be honest; bicycle shorts are basically leggings cut off, and I don’t usually wear leggings.

I am not going to give up though. I think there is a way for me to feel comfortable in bicycle shorts. My problem with this outfit–that I did wear out for a Saturday at the mall–was overdoing it everywhere else. I didn’t need to load on all the gold, and I didn’t need to cinch my waist. I think I should have just kept it on the simpler side by just wearing my long leopard tunic and that’s it. Maybe some hoops but a subtler pair. Also, simpler sunnies would have been just fine. And, I even overdid it with the sparkly gold socks too. Sometimes I don’t know when to stop!! You can bet, I’ll try again though because this trend is super comfortable–cutoff leggings, what’s not to love?

There are plenty of articles out there stating how (from Vogue, Who What Wear, and Refinery 29) influencers are sporting this trend with tips and tricks for making the look work. And then there’s the why. Of course I first became inspired by Aimee Song–basically I can’t get enough of her (and her biker shorts) lately! In fact I followed her lead and just cut off my leggings as she did with hers. Not much lost there if my bicycle shorts don’t work out, but I’m determined. I will try again, and after my style studying, I will do better.

What do you think?

In October will you try bicycle shorts?

Hey, maybe I should abandon simple black leggings and opt for the reverse: leopard bicycle shorts with a simple black blouse instead…. Hmmm, I don’t think so!!
