Trousers Under a Dress

Trousers Under a Dress

Trousers Under a Dress
Last year at this time, I wore this exact outfit to a Thanksgiving celebration. The colors of the shift dress are pretty perfect for Turkey Day! The only issue with this dress is the hemline–it does fall a little short on me. While tights work just fine underneath, I prefer to wear a bit of a cropped and flared black pant. Somehow this type of underings (I know this is not a word, but I’ve seen it made up like this before, so I’m using it!) provides a bit more sophistication in my eye than tights would. The other time that I wore this Missoni-ish dress was to my 40th birthday brunch. I can remember at that time pairing it with fleece lined tights since Beijing is so, so very cold in February!

Do you ever wear trousers under a dress? It’s super comfortable and something I highly recommend.

It’s almost Christmas which means it’s time to start shopping! Do you want Kremb de la Kremb gift guides like last year?

  1. I was grinning ear-to-ear as I clicked on your page, Ann!
I am wearing something similar today…okay, not a DOT (dress over trousers) look BUT the Missoni-esque patterned top/tunic…or in my case…dress.
You look so beautiful in this!
I love your nude lip too….so chic with the colours of your outfit.
The DOT look is HUGE this autumn/winter and I am looking for inspiration….so thank you for yet more of that.
I am definitely going to be giving it a go.
I am now wishing I had paired my dress with Navy wool capri’s I had originally chosen.
Maybe when I am out shopping on Saturday (supposed to be for christmas and the kiddies BUT maybe the odd thing for me will sneak in!) I will have a look for something else. Thank you Mr Mastercard for your help with that!
    A great look.

    1. Are you talking about that ultra fabulous red Missoni, kimono styled arm dress on your blog!? Oh my! Gorgeous post!!

These leggings of mine in this post…they are perfect for under dresses. They have the best amount of flare and cropped-ness. They were a fortune at the time that I bought–something I hardly ever do, but my sister had them, and she’s my style queen. So I splurged! I haven’t regretted it though with these guys.

I have more of a relationship with Mr. Visa! Hahah. Have fun shopping this weekend. ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. All the time!! I love wearing mini dresses with pants. The silhouette helps make me look taller which is always a boon in my eyes ๐Ÿ™‚ I love LURVE your lariat.

    1. Yes to looking taller! Right!? Even though I am almost 5’7″ I too like to appear taller than I am. Lariat! That’s what it’s called!! You just taught me a new word;D I too love LURVE it!! When I saw it at Forever 21, it was a no brainer. Granted it might not keep it’s sheen, but for now, it’s good. Looking forward to Nov 30th Sheela! Love, Annie

  3. Ann, this zigzag pattern is a favourite of mine and looks รผber cute on you. I love that you’ve introduced me to underings and shall be using this new terminology whenever I can! The entire look is stylish, swish and elegant. I love how you change your personality just through an outfit – bubbly one day, cool the next. Lovely post.

    1. Oh gosh! Thank you Anna! I am so glad that I got the commenting sorted because you are the best. And yes to underings! Makes sense, huh? Have a great and very stylish weekend! Love, Ann

      1. Lovely to be in touch. I have to tell you, I’ve taken your advice and am trying out an orange lipstick – maybe not bright orange, but, hey, you have to start somewhere!

  4. Oh yes I do wear trousers under short dresses. Remember the red dress of a couple of weeks ago? I elongated that with a black pencil skirt underneath it and wore it like a dress. But it is actually even nicer with normal denim coloured skinny jeans and my beloved cream booties.
Underings is a brautiful new word. I am adopting it.
So yes, I think your outfit looks great. Love the shoes and the necklace too. Dress liking is obvious.

    1. Thank you Greetje! I do remember the red dress of a couple of weeks ago. I am enjoying your inclusion of more leg–you have the best legs!! So long and lean. And don’t get me started on your shoe collection! Thanks for stopping by and commenting Greetje. Love, Ann
