Go With What Works!

Go With What Works 3The more mature (I won’t use older here!) I get, I’ve decided to GO WITH WHAT WORKS! There are many things that are hard on me, that I prefer not to get into–mainly my hip and the chronic pain it’s causing me. Therefore and rather, I like to focus my energy on the good. Basically, I decide to go with what works. While of course my family and the people in my life make me happy, there are also things–you know, stuff! For this post, I’m going to share some of the physical things in life that bring me joy.

Go With What Works!

Here are some things that make me happy (in no particular order):

  • the beach
  • baths
  • books
  • clothes
  • jewellery
  • makeup
  • markets
  • tans (even if they’re fake!)
  • cafés (with good cappuccinos and really good books!)
  • trips
  • sun and water
  • sunsets
  • cocktail hour
  • home-cooked meals
  • also chic restaurants
  • magazines
  • as well as fashion/style blogs
  • Instagram
  • popcorn
  • especially with red wine
  • and a movie on a Friday night
  • dark chocolate (especially with sea salt)
  • *I’ve added to this list a gazillion times since it’s been posted! The list of things keeps growing!! Hahhaha.

And last but very much not least, these two things always work for me!
  • white off the shoulder tops
  • cutoff jean shorts
  • Go With What Works 1

    Go With What Works 4

    Go With What Works 5

    Go With What Works 2

    What about you?

What are your things that you go with that always work for you? Are there any things that just make you happy?

    1. Yes Annie, simple things make me happy too.
Tea, cheese, dark chocolate (with salt, or chilli), noodles, shoes, lipbalm, cosy jumpers, magazines, reading blogs and connecting, making new friends (you!), sunshine, birdsong and a great film.
      Easy peasy. :oD
As for that always works outfit….hmmm….skinnies, ankle boots a tee and a huge chunky cable-knitted cardigan. Perfection.

    2. Ahhh.. I first LOVE LOVE your top. Been looking for off the shoulder white tops and am on the hunt. Mind telling me where you got it? I , understand like you, chronic pain doesnt make me happy. but over the years I have been getting better at blocking it but distraction. Doing things I enjoy. Wine tasting and vineyard visiting makes me happy, its a given my puppies make me happy, hot tea, martinis, sitting outdoors, listening to swing music, shopping online and finding a deal, playing my guitar, BBC tv… Just a few. YOu look great in this!! Cant wait for the beach in July…!

      1. Wow Jess, I just went and read your about page thoroughly. I did not know about your chronic illness. So we have more in common than just a love of dressing and looking (to feel!) great!! Looks like there are a few other things that help to make us feel happy too.

My top, with a ton of other options to choose from, is from Forever 41–op! I mean 21!! Pretty much most of what I wear is from there! It’s kind of crazy. I really feel like I should be a rep for them! Ha!

So, what beach will you be going to in July? Beach=happiness for me!!

Have a great day Jess. Love, Ann
