Gift Guide: Jewellery for My Maharani Girlfriends

IndianJewelleryIndian women know jewellery. Oh, doesn’t that country know jewellery! It was amazing to live in India and collect bauble–from roadside trinkets to fine gold, I cherish every treasure I own from India (even the bangles with gems missing). Recently during December, I had such fun making gift guides for the Christmas season I don’t want to stop. So, I’m not! Instead, I plan to find friends who might be celebrating during the month and create a gift guide for them. (I know this may seem kind of awful because I’m not actually in the vicinity of personally gifting to these people, but can I say it’s the thought that counts?! I’m a shopper, so that’s the gift I’ll share.) This month, I have four beautiful Indian girlfriends who are celebrating their birthdays this January. I think of these four remarkable women all the time. Not only were they teachers to my kids, but they embraced me and gave me the gift of their friendship when I lived in their country. When I say beautiful, I am talking about their “beauty is as beauty does,” but they are also actually gorgeous stunners on the eyes as well. There’s Priyanka and Khush, Charlotte and Mrinalini. Because each of their body types is so different, I’ve attempted to provide jewellery style tips according to their unique voluptuousness while attempting to describe the best jewellery for different body types. The two trends I focused on were statement earrings and necklaces:

Priyanka

Priyanka:

She’s super curvy and petite all at once. Priyanka was Vincent’s early childhood teacher, and since he came from a booby mommy, we had to kind of teach him that other women’s boobies were not for mushing. It was quite sweet, and I’m pretty sure Vincent isn’t the only little boy who’s touched Priyanka’s precious padding! Regardless, being top heavy means you usually don’t want to draw too much attention to the chest, so finding the right jewellery for this body type can be tricky. Top heavy women can have fun with their jewellery, but basically, they want to keep all jewellery tight to the limb: closer hugging necklaces and earrings that sit on the ear are the best bet as are more subdued colors like light turquoise blues and seafoam greens. Keeping the pieces symmetrical is also a good idea as it keeps the look tight and tidy.

Khush

Khush:

I’ve shopped for Khush before, so I can safely say Khushnuma has the average sized woman’s physique. She knows her sizes, gives them to me, and then has always fit in everything I’ve purchased for her. She’s super proportionate with pretty much any style looking good on her. Like Priyanka, she’s curvy in some areas, yet with a little more height she can be more adventurous with jewellery. Khush can embrace the chunkier necklace in bold colors with success with colors like purple, fuchsia, and orange. This lady can totally embrace flowers galore, and symmetry isn’t as important for Khush’s body type so she can experiment with different arrangements and chunkier styles.

Charlotte

Charlotte:

Charlotte also taught my kiddos in their early childhood years; she helped to create the dynamic duo with Priyanka. Yet, in physique the two couldn’t be more opposite. Charlotte is a tall glass of water–and she actually isn’t even that tall I don’t think. Slender people just tend to seem taller than they actually are. Lucky ducks! Charlotte is naturally thin with long and lean limbs. It’s funny though; as I remember she always wanted to be a little heavier–proof that we all seem to want what we don’t have. Because Charlotte is long and lean, the same applies to her jewellery options: she looks best in long, dangly pieces. In fact, I can remember one of my necklaces that she just loved–I hope I left it with her, but I can’t recall. The dangly chain trend that is prevalent today is perfect for Charlotte as are the single ear cuffs that rides up the ear.

Mrinalini

Mrinalini:

Mrinalini is statuesque. With an athletic build, she’s got a presence to her being. There’s a Hindu goddess that she gets referred to but it’s always in a teasing way because this particular god is an angry, crazy one, but for me, I do think of Mrinalini with goddess like status. She’s just really, really pretty with etheral hair flowing about and big wide penetrating eyes. For this reason, Mrinalini can wear bold, earthy type jewellery easily. If it’s bohemian, it will definitely suit her. Think tribal layered pieces, gold coins, or even sharks teeth.

  1. Dear Anne,
Thank you for the beautiful bejewelled tribute! I loved reading the blog and you were bang on about busty girls (me!) not wearing necklaces to avoid drawing attention to my girls! Now, I am going to try some neck pieces close to my skin and see how I feel. I love wearing earrings and bracelets.
I also feel special to have you write about us and about your time in India. Big hugs and big booby hugs to you.
    Love, Priyanka

    1. Yay! Thank you Priyanka! It was fun writing a post for the four of you–you are all really special people to me. I hope you had a wonderful birthday. Giving you a big boobie hug back! Love, Annie
